Challenge 5
Challenge 5, Assignment 2
Zalissa’s age was 14 years,
When she had to marry a man while she was in tears.
She didn’t understand why,
She thought she would rather die.
It was a tradition, that’s what her dad said,
Which got her very mad.
She talked with her teacher about this,
So he said that she should give the kiss.
She still thinks that this is a tradition that should not be maintained,
It is a situation that is unexplained.

- We think we see people who are going to better place because they come from a dark, black place and they are going to a better, brighter and colourful place. We think they are going to a place where they have more autonomy.
- Unsafe
- Poem autonomy:
I have my own rights,
I do not need any guides.
I want to make my own choices,
because everyone should be able to raise their voices.
I want to do whatever I like,
for example going to school with a bike.
Assignment 2
- Yes, we can choose what we wear.
- Yes, we do horse riding, soccer and fitness and we choose these sports al by ourselves.
- Who your family is, who you are and how you feel pain.
- No, we don’t regret any of the choices that we have made today.
Assignment 3

Assignment 3
Tony’s Chocolonely
We have interviewed Tony’s Chocolonely, which is a Dutch chocolate company that is against exploitation and child labour. Tony’s Chocolonely is known for their slave free campaign against exploitation and child labour, they have the FairTrade mark, that is why their chocolate is more expensive. The chocolate is made in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where they try to reach 100% slave free chocolate. Tony: “We can not do this all by ourselves, we need each other. We make our chocolate slave free, but not all chocolate is 100%.” The chocolate bar does not have equal pieces because they say it is also not equal divided in the world.

FASE 3
Is it possible for women to do all kinds of jobs, can they study for all kinds of professions in your country? Name examples: if there are professions women can't do or they wouldn't be welcomed or recognized by the society in your country, or if there are women, who do "men's" jobs, but don't earn equal recognition as men.
Our answer in a poem:
Women can do the same work as men,
Some jobs even better than they can.
For example being a doctor or soccer player,
Men still get a higher money layer.
They say men and women are equal,
But the difference in their loans is after all legal.
We hope gender inequality will stop,
So let’s make the loan difference drop!

Challenge 3 – The right to education
Assignment 1: Comparison and education
Compare the school system in your own country with the school system of another country. Which differences and similarities do you see?
I am comparing the school system of the Netherlands with the school system of South-Africa.
First of all, in both countries the constitution guarantees equal access to basic education. The educational road that you cover is in both countries quite similar; You start with your primary education which is followed by an secondary education. After this, you continue with an higher education. in which you are studying for either a job or another specific.
The differences between the countries are that the school system in the Netherlands has more options to choose from in secondary school, which the South-African school system does not have. Also, it is easier in the Netherlands to change your educational road over time.
How important is it to be able to go to school?
Being able to go to school is very important, probably one of the most important things. Because in school you keep learning and expending your knowledge and you need a base of education.
What can you learn best in school?
In school you learn the basics, for example math and your main language. You also learn a lot about yourself; who you are and what you are good at. You learn about how to treat each other, respect each other and to listen to each other.
What can you learn best when you’re not in school?
When you are not in school, you actually put your knowledge into practice. You use for example the language that you have learned and the rules that you have learned.
Do children learn better when they don't go to school and have a job instead?
No, because you need the basics of an education to do a job properly.
From who do you learn the most? Your friends, your family, or your teachers?
Family, because your family teaches you things from when you are born. How to talk, to eat and to walk for example. This is a very important base to have.
What can be reasons for so many children not going to school?
The family of the children could be poor and not have enough money for the education which can be very expensive. Children often need to work to provide food for their family. Children could also be living in a country which is at war and because of the war, schools could be closed and hinders the children from going to school.
Going to school is a right and an obligation. Why?
Yes, I think it is indeed both. Going to school an obligation because attendance to school is a must under a certain age, according to the law. But going to school is also a right because it is not a must in every country but children do need it.
Assignment 2: Design your own school.
If you could rate your school, what would it be? Is this rating based on the building, the way you can learn there or just for the place, which is fine and safe to be?
8.5 out of 10. I really like the way we learn at our school. We have interesting subjects that we can choose, the teachers are kind and we have a lot of trips and excursions to foreign countries. Furthermore, I feel very safe at school and I always have my friends around. The thing that a do not like about my school is the building, it is a little old-fashioned. What bothers me too is the temperature at school; is summer it is way too hot and in the winter it is way too cold because the air conditioning and the heating do not work very well.
Can you explain with a picture or drawing what the nicest place in your school is and why?
This is a picture of one of the auditoriums of our school. We go here when we have a break, like for lunch. I think this is the nicest place in our school because when you are here you do not have to pay attention and you can chat with your friends or play cards.
What makes you want to learn something new?
I am curious how the world and the people and things in the world work. I am working towards a goal; becoming a doctor. And I like to challenge myself.
Where did you learn something to remember?
At home, when I have a fight with my sister. We then both have to apologies and make it up to each other.
Should your teacher explain to you what you need to know for the future or do you learn to make choices in school, to learn HOW you learn best?
In school you learn to make choices. For example, to choose which job you want later and which higher education you have to follow for that.
Do you decide yourself WHAT you learn, HOW you learn and WHEN?
You do not decide what you learn, because the teachers decide the topics are important to discuss with the class. When you learn is partly decided by the school, like the classes. But when you have a test, you decide when you learn at home. You also decide how you learn. For example, you decide how you are going to study for tests.
What are the conditions for learning in a way that suits you best?
The teachers should give the students more free time and time to relax. I think students need this to pay full attention in class.
Can you become who you are at school?
Yes, everything that you learn and do at school makes the person who you are today.
Imagine you can design a whole new school: What would that school look like? How would you organize and decorate the building and how can you best learn, play and meet each other?
The most important thing is that you enjoy yourself at school. That school is not something bad that you have to go to. I would create many special areas where you can meet your friends and just have a nice chat between the lessons.
I feel like after many hours of school, you are very tired of
sitting on those wooden benches. So I thought it would be a good idea to have more comfortable chairs at school.
← Like this chair.
I would use different types of classroom. So not only the standard table and chairs classroom. Like this one. ↓
But more classrooms like this. ↑
Or something fun like this. ↓
Or maybe this. ↓
I would also incorporate some places where you can work on your homework or projects alone. Like this. ↓ Or this. →
And then something that I think is very important; comfortable places where you can meet, chat and hangout with your friends. Here some examples. ↓
And when you have been sitting for too long and you just need to move, you go for a quick run in the hallway. →
Or when you just need some fresh air,
you just go outside. ↓

Greetings
Lovely introduction! It's so funny how I have the same interests as some of you and I think that, that would help us know more about each other and to build friendships. Thank you for sharing your school location and environment, we would really like to experience the snowy weather because it looks so cool. I wish the world had the same thoughts as us about Children's Rights but I know we will work together as a group and bring change and make our peers feel happy again. Looking forward to working with you!
