Introduction:

Hello everyone!

Better late than never, here is our 'creative introduction' of ourselves, Pantarijn from Wageningen.

Besides the students and the teacher from Pantarijn Wageningen, you see them holding a set of drawnings with some "typical" Dutch features: mills, weed, the national flag, the colour orange, bad weather, happy faces, et cetera. So, by looking at our picture, you not only get to know us, but a bit of The Netherlands as well.

In the meantime, we will give a short summary of the first conversations we had, based on the 'reflective questions'.

A first interesting thing to notice are the differences within our own learning circle: a lot of different answers to questions like 'What are you (not) allowed to do?' and 'What do you have to do?'. Most of these differences can be traced back to cultural differences between the students. We wonder if we will see similar (cultural) differences between The Netherlands, Germany and South Africa.

One thing we could (mostly) agree on, is the role of the government: the government should take care of its citizens by creating a 'safe' and 'good' country, providing goods like 'education', 'food', 'jobs', 'a minimum wage' and - interestingly - 'stuff for "female problems"'.

Bye!

Contributions Challenges:

In this file, you can read about some of the discussion we had about the different articles:

We chose this Challenge: WHY CHILDREN'S RIGHTS? (+ WHY WOMEN'S RIGHTS?)

And this assignment: DEBATE + DRAWNING

Yesterday, we had an interesting conversation about what school should be about (having children's rights in mind). After this conversation, we would like to ask five questions to the other students, from other schools:

1) Do you feel free in your school / education?

2) What do you (dis)like most from your school?

3) Is is possible for you to participate in the decision making process at your school?

4) Is it accepted to be gay, lesbian or transgender at your school?

5) What would you like to change in your school or education system?

Bye!
